Enterprise Development Programme

Supporting youth organisations to become financially resilient

Lack of sustainable funding is one of the biggest challenges facing youth organisations across the UK. We are proud to be driving Access’ new Enterprise Development Programme with the youth sector. The new five-year, £40m Enterprise Development Programme with Access works to better support charities to think creatively, become more financially resilient and develop enterprise models.

If you are an organisation working with young people and have an innovative idea but need support or funding to develop it or make it happen, then this programme is for you.

So if you are an organisation working with young people and have an innovative idea but don’t know how to bring it to life or you don’t have the funding to make it happen, then this programme is for you.

About the programme

The programme has two major strands:

Enterprise Learning, led by the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE). This will run for six months and will help you build your organisation’s capacity to understand social enterprise and develop your business ideas. At the end of the programme, there is £10,000 of match trading to help kick start your idea. Applications for this strand are now closed.

Enterprise Grants facilitated by the Social Investment Business (SIB). Through these grants we have helped unlock £1.85m for the youth and homeless sectors. There are two grants available; one for small grants (up to £10,000) to help you test the feasibility of an idea or to design an action plan, and the other, around £50,000, for organisations who have a specific enterprise or trading position in mind, or have already started work on it. Applications for the Enterprise Grants are now open.

Our Support

We are committed to helping our members in a number of ways including to diversify their funding.  We help to unlock national and regional funding for programme delivery as well as supporting members while they explore innovative and sustainable sources of income.

Working closely with the Centre of Youth Impact, we will be supporting and encouraging our network of youth organisations to take advantage of this innovative programme to help them diversify and sustain their funding streams.

Get in touch at enterprise@ukyouth.org to find out more about the support we give.
