UK Youth is aware of a potential data breach which could have impacted some of our Cost of Living grant applicants.
We have informed the Information Commissioner’s Office and have been investigating the issue with our IT provider to try to understand the extent of the risk. No issues relating to potential access have been reported to us to date and, therefore, it is highly likely no unauthorised access has occurred
Laura Badley, UK Youth Chief Operating Officer and Data Protection Officer, said:
“We are truly sorry for this potential breach and are taking robust steps to investigate it and ensure we maintain tight security surrounding any data we hold.
“As soon as we became aware of the issue, we took immediate steps to resolve the matter and are working to understand how it happened.
“We urge charities to take steps to ensure this potential data breach has not impacted their organisation; for instance if contacted about your bank account, ensure you are talking to your bank and, if you are unsure, end the conversation. If you notice any unusual activity on your account, or are concerned, contact your bank immediately.”
