Intact Insurance x UK Youth
UK Youth and Intact Insurance have joined forces to deliver the Building Aspirations Programme—a two-year initiative aimed at improving employability and social mobility for young people in Manchester and Liverpool, where the need is greatest. With NEET rates in these cities almost double the national average, the programme is supporting over 120 young people each year through a tailored curriculum focused on skills development, confidence-building, and career readiness. A dedicated scholarship fund helps participants overcome practical financial barriers, such as accessing equipment or training.
The programme reaches those furthest from the job market, with 76% of participants living in the top three most deprived deciles and 78% currently NEET. Beyond programme delivery, Intact is deeply involved—providing paid placements, permanent job opportunities, and engaging staff through volunteering and fundraising, including 12 Intact runners taking part in the 2025 London Marathon for UK Youth. This partnership is a powerful example of how targeted corporate support can drive meaningful, measurable change for young people’s futures.

Impact so far:
In Year 2 of the programme, Building Aspirations supported young people across six youth organisations in the UK.
Key highlights include:
– 222 young people enrolled on the programme
– 197 young people completed the full programme
– 85% of participants reported feeling positive about their future at work
– 93 scholarships awarded, totalling £36,193 to support young people’s next steps
– 78% said they knew what type of job might suit them
Colleagues from Intact Insurance have also played an active role in supporting young people directly. Through mentoring, workshops, insight sessions and scholarship panels, 25 Intact volunteers contributed more than 100 hours, helping participants gain valuable insight into the world of work.
