What made you who you are today?
If you were given a helping hand when you were young, then you’ll know how important that pivotal moment in a young person’s life can be. Being offered a safe place to go, encouragement, and the chance to acquire new skills can transform a young person’s life and their long-term prospects.
At UK Youth that is what we do. Our vision is that ‘Young people in the UK will be equipped, supported and empowered to become their best self and make a positive contribution to society’. We recognise that to do this young people need inspiration, opportunities and encouragement to develop crucial life skills that are not always acquired at home or through formal education.
The impact of our work is profound, our movement reaches over 5,500 organisations and over 1.6m young people are supported through our network each year. Each year we invest millions of pounds into local youth organisations who deliver our inspiring programmes across the UK as well as enable young people to take part in outdoor learning at our activity centre Avon Tyrrell.
Join us and help shape the future of the organisation
This is an exciting opportunity, we are recruiting new Trustees to become part of our dynamic UK Youth Board who are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Charity.
In your role as Trustee you will act as an ambassador for UK Youth and be responsible for ensuring the charity delivers its stated aim of supporting young people aged 9-25 across the UK.
We are looking for people from all walks of life who can demonstrate a genuine passion for empowering young people.
We are particularly looking for individuals with knowledge, skills or experience in the following areas:

- High profile professional with developed networks and influencing skills.
We are also seeking applications from candidates who would like to act as Young Trustees, individuals aged under 25 who are currently or have previously benefited from youth work. Trustee roles are unpaid; UK Youth will reimburse you for related expenses such as travel, accommodation and food. The term of the appointment is 3 years.
UK Youth prides itself on being an Equal Opportunity organisation and we would particularly welcome applications from those who identify under one of the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, which include race, age, disability, gender, religion or belief, and sexual orientation so that we can reflect the diverse nature of the young people we benefit.
We value the differences that a diverse Trustee board brings and are committed to inclusivity and accessibility to all. Our selection procedures ensure that people are treated on the basis of their relevant merits, experience, skills and abilities and that no individual receives more or less favourable treatment. We can offer flexibility through the interview process and endeavour to accommodate candidate’s needs as much as possible.
