This Youth Work Week we’ve commissioned something special! Introducing our interactive mural near London’s Brick Lane to highlight the unique stories of five youth workers from around the UK.
Youth workers across the country continue to provide a lifeline to so many young people after what has been an especially difficult 18 months. To commemorate this, acclaimed artist Jim Vision has embodied in art as modern-day superhero’s a few of the thousands of youth workers who go above and beyond in their support for young people. Bolton’s Daniel Sukula, Bristol’s Beth French, York’s Jessie Pigg, North London’s Shay D and Daniel Rumble from Avon Tyrrell.
Reflecting the diverse make-up of youth workers in 2021, the collective feats of these fantastic 5 individuals include: supporting the fight against knife crime through mentoring; providing safe spaces to help young people facing bereavement; running inclusive sessions for those with additional needs and challenging behaviours; harnessing the power of creativity and music to reach those isolated by mainstream education; and allowing individuals to ‘experience, learn and develop’ through outdoor learning. Follow their incredible stories on our social networks here.
We would love you to take part in our latest fundraising challenge ‘8k Your Way‘ which is your way to commemorate youth workers. Until the end of November, walk, run, or cycle 8k, fundraise and share the mural to recognise the 8,000 youth organisations and national partners making up the UK Youth Movement delivering essential support every day to our young people!
