UK Youth welcome the Labour Party’s announcement to establish a national body with protected funding for youth service provision across England if Labour wins the next election.
Alan Carr, Interim Chief Executive, UK Youth said:
“Youth services underpin so many essential other services for young people such as mental health support, citizenship education, social mixing and training, enabling all young people to build bright futures.
The needs of all young people and those who support them should be considered, recognising the need for high quality, inclusive, open access youth provision for all young people, regardless of their background or circumstance.
UK Youth welcome the Labour Party’s launch of a consultation on its proposals. This consultation should recognise the diversity of the youth sector and focus on how Government, the youth sector, business, wider partners and young people can work better together to overcome the current and future issues facing young people.”
UK Youth recently called for a commitment from the Government and wider society to recognise the value and strengths of young people, with a dedicated, long term youth strategy, prioritising investment in youth services in the recent Civil Society Strategy.
