Head of School (Avon Tyrrell Youth Achievement Foundation)

Salary £33.1k to £36.4k

27 days paid holiday plus bank holidays, 37 ½ hour week

Located at UK Youth Headquarters, Avon Tyrrell in The New Forest, Hampshire

UK Youth is seeking a highly motivated qualified teacher with a minimum of 5 years post qualification teaching experience to have responsibility for the internal management, organisation and operation of the Avon Tyrrell Youth Achievement Foundation.The successful applicant will need a proven track record of motivating and working with young people (ideally including experience of working with disadvantaged young people) and an ability to show aptitude and initiative to motivate and lead a team in the development of an exciting new school.

Youth Achievement Foundations are established with funding support from the DCSF Youth Sector Development Fund. The Foundations are small independent schools providing an activity based, motivating, vocational, curriculum of personal and social development for vulnerable young people who are often at risk of exclusion. The Foundations are based either within schools or in separate settings operated by organisations experienced in alternative curricular delivery.

Avon Tyrrell, the headquarters of UK Youth, is a 65 acre complex in the heart of The New Forest. The complex will be the site of a Youth Achievement Foundation that will accept students from September 2009

Are you experienced in participative youth work?

Home based or located at our headquarters in The New Forest, Hampshire

This national position will take responsibility for the successful development and delivery of our 3 year BIG funded Hearing Unheard Voices project. The project will run until the end of March 2012

This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to work with young people aged 11-18 to encourage their active engagement in the research and development of the project.
