So What is Inclusion?

So What is Inclusion?

So What Is Inclusion

This training day will be delivered using a new interactive resource which has recently been published by UK Youth.

The resource and this training aims to support the development of inclusive practice with young disabled and non disabled people in youth work. It has many unique features, which we hope will encourage those using it to be creative in developing their own practice. The material challenges assumptions and attitudes towards disability and inclusion and recognises that inclusion is a process. Part of this process is about change, which is both personal and professional.

During the day we will encourage you to examine your practice and explore issues relating to youth work, disability and inclusion. This is within the context that young disabled and non-disabled people have a right to participate and learn together.

The writers of the resource pack are all practitioners; we work with young disabled and non-disabled people and are aware of the pressures and expectations that those using the resource pack may well be under. So what is inclusion? does not give any ‘golden answers’ but encourages us to view inclusion as a process and gives guidance as to some of the core issues that require consideration in developing inclusive practice.
