Personal Safety In A Youth Work Setting
With the an increasing emphasis on the need to provide Youth Work services over the weekends, many workers are expressing a need to receive additional training on working with young people under the influence of alcohol or substances. The responsibility to ensure the safety of the young people, volunteers and staff will be paramount and this course will provide an opportunity to identify potentially dangerous situations and equip staff with a range of skills and approaches to minimise risk within weekend provision.
The course is accredited by ACPO, Association of Chief Police Officers, and delegates will receive a nationally recognised certificate following a short assessment following the course.
The course is compiled of five sections:-
- The Facts of Personal Safety – and dispelling myths about modern society.
- Assessing Risk and Planning your Safety – a practical approach to assessing situations within a youth work setting.
- Strategies for diffusing difficult situations – will provide delegates with an opportunity to explore a range of methods of positive intervention.
- Practical tips to minimise risks within a wide range of situations Youth Workers may operate.
- Working in other Peoples homes poses additional risks and this section of the course identifies best practice and guidance.
