Introduction to Peer Qualifications Programme

Introduction to Peer Qualifications Training Day

New Image

UK Youth has developed a one day training programme to introduce the new QCA qualification, Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Award and Certificate in Peer Education and Peer Mentoring to youth workers and non-formal educators.

The qualifications give young people the opportunity to explore their understanding of peer education or peer mentoring, including the roles and responsibilities involved in being a peer mentor or peer educator. Young people will explore and develop their own skills and qualities that will help them become either a peer educator or peer mentor. The young people will then deliver peer education or peer mentoring activities. The practical delivery of these activities is the core of these exciting new qualifications. These programmes are then concluded by the young people reviewing the outcomes of their programme and sharing these experiences.

This training uses activities and group discussion to provide participants with a practical working knowledge of accrediting your peer education or peer mentoring project using these exciting new qualifications. We are offering this training at the reduced introduction rate of £99 + VAT.

By the end of the day participants will have:

  • Explored good practice in peer education and peer mentoring projects
  • An overview of the new Peer Qualifications and how they fit into the QCF
  • Looked in detail at the units that make up the Awards and the Certificates
  • Examined the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the mandatory units
  • Examined how to evidence these qualifications and explore potential evidence
  • Learnt about the quality assurance requirements of Edexcel and how UK Youth can support you in these
