The Network for Accrediting Young People's Achievement (NfAYPA) was formed in 1998 by The National Youth Agency together with a range of key national accrediting bodies in non-formal education (Award Organisations and other relevant national bodies) to foster co-operation and professional knowledge-sharing between organisations.
The NfAYPA produced a 'National Framework of Awards in Non-Formal Educational Settings' which was first published in 2002 and revised in 2003. The framework focuses on national awards and puts these national programmes into a coherent structure, at the same time recognising that they are often part of a wider 'menu of options' available to young people.
