UK Youth is committed to making the First Gear and On Two Wheels programme accessible to both large and small organisations but need to balance the income generated with the costs incurred by national development of the programme. In order to be able to use the programmes with your young people, you will need to ensure that you are registered.
In order to run the programme, your organisation will need to demonstrate that you have:
- Safe and user-friendly facilities to run a learning programme for young people.
- Appropriate organisational policies and procedures in place e.g. a health and safety policy, equal opportunities, child protection, a mission statement and a staff training and development policy
- The financial and personal resources to teach, support, and assess the young people to the programme standards.
There are three types of registration to run the First Gear and On Two Wheels programme:
- First Gear - appropriate for organisations that wish to deliver the First Gear programme with their young people.
- On Two Wheels - appropriate for organisations that wish to deliver the On Two Wheels programme with their young people.
- Combination of First Gear and On Two Wheels programmes- appropriate for organisations that wish to deliver both programmes with their young people.
Registration Fees
To register for the First Gear and On Two Wheels Programme, there is registration fee of £200 + VAT (£235) which includes a manual, 10 young people’s registration and certificates and 1 year subscription to UK Youth’s e-magazine. Extra young people’s registration costs £5.00 per young person including certificate. The annual renewal fee is £150+ VAT to renew your license.
When you register to run the First Gear and On Two Wheels, you will receive:
- Monthly news Bulletin from UK Youth;
- 1 year subscription to UK Youth's e-magazine;
- Monthly news Bulletin from RoadSafe;
- Telephone and/or email guidance from the commencement of the Agreement until the programme is completed.
- £2.00 per hour off driving lessons booked with BSM
- Discounts for entry to the National Motor Museum Beaulieu
To register to run the First Gear and On Two Wheels programme, please complete the Programme Delivery Agreement and the Registration Form and return it to Charmaine Simpson at UK Youth.
