UK Youth Annual General Meeting 2006

On 28th November eighty friends and supporters of UK Youth congregated at the Annual General Meeting to review the achievements of the previous year and address the challenges of 2007. Attendees, including representatives from regional youth associations, the Drinkaware Trust and the National Members Group were welcomed by Derek Casey and Nigel Mansell, who congratulated the UK Youth network on their hard work and dedication over the last twelve months. Nigel Mansell was re-elected as UK Youth’s President, as were the Vice-Presidents for the year 2006/7. Also elected were new Trustees Keike Horsburgh, Tom Kedie, Diana Organ, Kitta Owen-Brown, Novlette Rennie and Lionel Wallace.

Long Service Awards, presented by Nigel Mansell and Princess George Galitzine, were accepted by Mitch Couriard of Jersey Youth Service and John Parr, Chairman of the Birmingham Association of Youth Clubs. Chelsea Reneham, introduced as the new Chair of NMG, subsequently identified this year’s members as the most enthusiastic and committed yet, predicting an extremely productive year for the group. Anna Jones and Tara Pearmain also gave a positive presentation on the Russell Commission Ready Steady Go Youth Led Evaluation Project.

Finally, Rory Hoy’s Autism and Me - one of the short listed entries from the Film For Youth festival this year - was shown, before a final vote of thanks to the friends and benefactors of UK Youth by Vice-President Keith Bowles.
