UK Youth was selected by BGC (formally Cantor Fitzgerald) to be a recipient of funds that were raised during their annual charity day on 11th September 2007.

The event was poignant and significant as it commemorated the large number of Cantor Fitzgerald staff who tragically lost their lives in the twin towers terrorist attacks in New York on 9/11.

UK Youth’s President, Nigel Mansell OBE was on hand with UK Youth Ambassadors to support the charity and raise awareness of its mission.

The exciting, day-long event featured opportunities to meet and greet celebrities like Amir Khan, Ian Wright, Alex Ferguson and Cherie Blair. Steve Davis showed young people trick shots on the snooker table, and professional rugby players were on hand to play in an outdoor rugby match.

UK Youth drew upon its national network to bring together celebrities, local young people, and senior representatives on the day.

Pop sensation Natalia, who experienced bullying in school, was proud to be in attendence as a UK Youth Ambassador: "I love that they are youth focused, because it means they are experts in dealing with the issues that today’s young people face".

UK Youth works to help all young people realise their potential through non-formal, accredited education programmes, like its award-winning Youth Achievement Awards.

Alom, a young person, said that “taking part in the Youth Achievement Awards, developing my skills, made me feel like I really had something to offer.”

BGC is delighted to support UK Youth’s mission to deliver innovative youth projects that enable young people to unlock their own potential.
