The Reach project is a partnership with EACH (Educational Action Challenging Homophobia) – an award winning charity that supports people affected by homophobia and transphobia.
Reach will involve young people in creating resources for schools and youth groups to help them challenge the increasingly widespread problem of cyberhomophobia and homophobic bullying.
This project will be one of the largest youth-led enquiries into the under-reported and pervasive problem of homophobia, sexism and cyberbullying, culminating in the development of a valuable resource for schools and youth agencies.
Opportunity for involvement to start the process, Joe Wyatt, Youth Participation Worker from UK Youth, will be recruiting young people from North Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset. He will support then a Youth Board comprising individuals with direct or indirect experience of homophobic bullying or cyberhomophobia (whether this was being bullied or being the bully).
The first Reach Youth Board residential meeting will be held from 23-25 March 2012.
