Art and mystery art sales soared over any previous year’s totals as did the Raffle and the Silent Auction, not least because a record number of entry tickets were sold. Amlin provided impressive outside banners and continued their sponsorship of the event whilst Strutt and Parker funded helpful new interior signage.
This year additional extensive volunteer support from the Home Office and Ernst & Young was warmly welcomed by Art for Youth London’s loyal band of seasoned helpers. Given the number of visitors enjoying the exhibition it was fantastic to welcome so many enthusiastic volunteers to ensure everything ran smoothly. Visitors were once again delighted by the quality and variety of the work on display and many went home with some wonderful new artworks.
Generous “Angel” donations (including one from Amlin in addition to sponsorship) saw more of the exhibition’s costs covered before the event than ever before. Art sales alone reached nearly £130,000 with the artists donating 35% of the sale price to the charity. All profits from terrific Auction, Raffle and Silent Auction prizes were 100% donations to UK Youth. This year, Art for Youth London easily sailed over its historic £1 million mark in raising funds for UK Youth since its first exhibition 24 years ago.
This year’s winner of the Diana Brooks award for an artist under 35 went to Lara Scouller an artist living and working in Scotland whose work features many dynamic images of our native flora and fauna.
