Joe Wyatt, participation worker and three members of the Hearing Unheard Voice Steering Group, Bobbi Tonge, Abby Corroboy, Dannii Mundry and UK Youth Voice's North West representative Craig Newton, attended the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) young partners awards.
UK Youth were thrilled to learn that the group had been shortlisted from hundreds of applications to the final three for the National Award category. To be shortlisted the young people first had to submit their application, this was then followed by a visit and interview. Once the group were selected for the final three they were invited to present at a showcase event in London, with all the other shortlisted groups from the south.
Finally the groups were invited to attend the awards event at Glazier’s Hall, London. The event started with a market place where groups were able to showcase their projects to each other, followed by the main awards presentations. This included performances from talented young people, a quiz, a fantastic meal and of course the presentation of the awards.
While the project didn’t win the award, they young people were very proud to be shortlisted and had a great day at the awards event. The young people particularly enjoyed meeting other young people working on similar projects and hearing them explain those projects with such passion and commitment.
“ I thought it was a really, really great event. It was great to meet so many new people” Craig, 20 from Warrington
