Build a Corporate Partnership with UK Youth

Help thousands of young people in the UK realise their potential

Matthew, 16, left school with no qualifications because he had to care for his disabled mother. He felt unfulfilled and excluded from his peers. UK Youth offered him a flexible route back into his community and fulfilling employment by engaging him in a Youth Achievement Award initiative. He began volunteering in his local community and now wants to be a qualified youth & community worker. Matthew says “Youth Achievement Awards have helped me improve in life and I made lots of new friends that I can count on.”

Corporate support has been instrumental to our success in helping young people like Matthew to become fulfilled and responsible citizens in their local communities.

Existing Corporate Partnerships

UK Youth works with a range of corporate partners to support young people and make a difference to their lives. Corporate supporters work with us in a range of ways, from donating to the charity, sponsoring flagship programmes, giving pro bono support and guidance, and engaging employees in UK Youth projects.

Each corporate partnership is unique and we provide support to all our partners, working closely with them to build meaningful relationships that work both for the charity and for the company.

Examples include:

Accenture

Employee Engagement
Ask Accenture is a charity initiative between Accenture and UK Youth. UK Youth receives help from Accenture on a variety of projects and schemes. This has included developing business plans, providing IT support and marketing advice, mentoring young people in the community, taking part in the London Marathon, providing consultancy support to develop the organisation and employees participating in our Corporate Challenges.

Project Funding
Accenture enables UK Youth to offer a bursary scheme to our network of youth groups and organisations across the UK. The grant was designed to enable young people who were traditionally not participating in the Youth Achievement Awards to participate and benefit from the personal and social learning that the Awards offer.

New Initiatives
In 2006 Accenture kindly supported UK Youth's Film For Youth programme which gave young filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their talent. Accenture is currently working with UK Youth on developing our online resources and building capacity within the organisation.

JPMorgan

JPMorgan supports the UK Youth 'Investing In Success' programme which provides training and support to young people in communities that suffer deprivation. With the help of JPMorgan, youth groups throughout England are given the opportunity to develop Youth Achievement Awards for young people in their area, thereby providing them with the skills and confidence to gain access to employment or further education.

JPMorgan also support research which we are undertaking with the Social Futures Department at the University of Teesside to examine the impact of the Youth Achievement Award methodology on the lives of young participants.

Rothschild

Rothschild support UK Youth's Art For Youth exhibition at The Mall Gallery and staff are engaged with the Art for Youth committee and committed to developing the programme.

HBOS Foundation

In July 2006 UK Youth launched a nationwide Financial Awareness Toolkit and Financial Challenge programme. With the support of the HBOS Foundation, UK Youth has helped raise the standard of financial awareness of thousands of young people nationwide. Financial awareness is an important life skill for everyone and this is a fantastic opportunity for young people to develop their learning in this challenging area.

Canary Wharf Group

Canary Wharf Group provide support to UK Youth in a variety of ways including helping to promote local youth work initiatives within the UK Youth network in Tower Hamlets and Newham.

Canary Wharf Group have helped foster young talent across the UK by supporting our Film For Youth festival. They funded our national press launch of the festival and enabled young filmmakers to attend the Lord Mayor's Show. They are also showed invaluable support of young people by hosting the London screening of entrants' films at East Wintergarden in 2006. With the help of the Canary Wharf Film Fund, UK Youth’s dynamic new initiative gives young filmmakers opportunities for training and to showcase their creativity and talent.

This year Canary Wharf Group are kindly hosting our annual Youth Achievement Awards Dinner at East Wintergarden, again showing their support for UK Youth's work with young people.

IBM

November 2006 saw IBM employees exchange laptops for spades. As part of their "one small day - one big difference" campaign, employees travelled down to UK Youth’s New Forest Activity Centre, Avon Tyrrell, where volunteer groups spent the day developing the activity provision for the many and varied young people who use the centre.

See photographs of the day.

IBM continue to develop their relationship with UK Youth with further employee volunteering and most recently through providing the charity with a collection of artworks to auction online in support of UK Youth.

These are just a few examples of ways in which UK Youth works with corporate supporters to make a difference to the lives of young people. To find out more contact Laura McVeigh on laura@ukyouth.org or Emma Walker on emma@ukyouth.org
