To kick off Art For Youth London’s 2008 fund-raising for the charity, John Bateman, Chief Executive of UK Youth, hosted a party for its organising committees.
He spoke about the urgent needs of young people today and the established UK Youth programmes that addressed the hard issues of knife crime and under achievement.

Artist Georgina Potter, winner of the Diana Brooks Prize in 2007, described how the prize gave her the courage to quit her job and work as an artist full-time.
Sam Wadsworth highlighted the thrill of what it was to be chosen as this year’s invitation artist.
Among the guests were: Lord Stevenson CBE, Patron of AFY London, Malcolm Roberts, Director, Rothschild Private Banking & Trust (Sponsor of Art for Youth London); Prof. Ken Howard RA, Vice-Patron; Mrs. M.A.G. Fenston, President; and Diana Brooks, who founded Art for Youth in aid of UK Youth 21 years ago.
Strutt & Parker kindly provided a delightful venue - the Elm Room in their headquarters at 11 Hill St., W1 and also delicious refreshments.
