Art for Youth London 2018, located at the prestigious Mall Galleries, was once again an immensely successful event. Sponsored by Rathbones Investment Management, this exclusive art exhibition has now been running for 31 years raising over £1 million and a half for the charity during that time. Once again, UK Youth’s biggest fundraiser opened to lively crowds in December and raised a total of over £91,200 through art sales, auctions and raffle tickets.

120 artists displayed over 1,000 pieces of work at the exhibition with 35% of proceeds from sale going directly to UK Youth. Art for Youth London makes a special effort to include art work from emerging artists alongside well-established ones. Highlighting this sentiment, the exhibition showcased work by “Young Ambassadors” who are mentored by Caitlin Mavroleon, Art for Youth’s Creative Director. Aged between nine and eighteen, the Young Ambassadors produced remarkably salable works and, in addition to the experience having their art on the walls, have helped raise over £3,800 in Raffle sales; and will be learning how to work with their schools to help raise other funds for the charity.

We were also very pleased to showcase the work of Guy Allen who won the Diana Brooks Prize: Amaal Said who won the Afshin Naghouni Prize for diversity; and Christopher Green who won the Parker Prize.

Alongside enjoying the incredible art on display at Art for Youth London, there was also a live performance during the exhibition. Two original songs were sung by Solana Lord, a young and very talented beneficiary of a UK Youth music programme, The Big Music Project.

The exhibition would not be possible without the dedicated and hard work of the Art for Youth London Committee, employees of UK Youth and many long-term supporters who volunteered hours of their time. We would like to say thank you to everyone who was involved in making the exhibition such a success – in particular, Rathbone investment Management for their generous sponsorship.

With the excellent financial results of the exhibition, the committee is thrilled to be supporting UK Youth in its mission to build bright futures for all young people.

Don’t forget to save the date for Art for Youth London 2019 at Mall Galleries: 11th – 13th December. More information will be available from April here www.artforyouth.com
