Charity Partner Case Study

UK Youth is delighted to have been selected earlier this year to the charity partner for national DIY retailer B&Q.

In the first year of this exciting new partnership UK Youth twinned each of B&Q’s 330 stores with a local youth group within our network to undertake a refurbishment project at their youth centre using £250 worth of donated products. These local relationships are currently flourishing,  young people have learned DIY skills and had the chance raise funds at their local store (over four busy weekends with one club raised a £1,200). This money has been used to improve youth club and run activities.

This local investment has helped clubs to continue offering great activities for young people even when other funding is hard to find. They have also able to make use of end-of-line stock such as paint, textiles and wood supplies.

These partnerships have been valuable for all involved. Young people have learned skills and benefitted from the funding while B&Q staff have had the chance to make a really meaningful difference the through both fundraising and giving their expertise.

B&Q staff are also doing some amazing things to raise funds for UK Youth nationally from internal events like plant sales and sponsored sporting events to selling UK Youth branded seeds packets at the Chelsea Flower Show.

UK Youth has also benefited from B&Q staff who have volunteered to maintain and upgrade our outdoor activity centre at Avon Tyrrell in Hampshire.

Our partnership with B&Q is a great model for how a business and a charity can work together. For more information about the partnership please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
