The UK Youth Awards 2016
Celebrating inspirational young people and youth organisations alike
Building on the success of last year's Youth of the Year, we've launched The UK Youth Awards to celebrate young people’s astonishing achievements and the grassroots youth organisations that support them through their social development journey.
These awards honour the “unsung heroes” within the UK Youth network, offering a way of acknowledging those young people who have overcome personal obstacles to make a difference in their own lives or the lives of others, as well as the clubs and groups that embody the mission of UK Youth and are committed to enabling young people across the UK and Ireland to become the best they can be.
The UK Youth Awards will be split into two categories, to crown both an individual and an organisation from within UK Youth's member network.
Young Person of the Year – celebrating those truly remarkable 16-25 year olds who have gained vital life skills to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals. These achievements may be selfless, brave and, perhaps even, heroic or just great examples of a young person positively transitioning into adulthood.
Youth Organisation of the Year – celebrating the innovative and adaptable youth organisations that have overcome challenges to continuously support young people and their local communities. These organisations will have helped enable young people to positively progress through their social development journey from social engagement and learning to social action and leadership.
Six finalists will be invited to a prestigious event at Buckingham Palace, hosted by UK Youth's patron, HRH The Princess Royal.
Winners will be awarded a suite of prizes including grant funding of up to £350, mentoring and free UK Youth membership.
