The UK Youth Outdoor Activity Centre
While we have offices in London and staff working all around the country we are also very lucky to have a base at Avon Tyrrell in the New Forest.
Since 1946 this Grade 1 listed house, set in 65 acres of grounds, has been a place for young people to enjoy positive new experiences. Around 20,000 people visit each year to take part in youth work training and other activities such as abseiling, archery, canoeing, climbing, canoeing, environmental studies, team-building and personal development courses. Avon Tyrrell is a residential centre offering full-board in the main house, self-catering in log-cabins as well as camping within the grounds.

We feel all young people regardless of ability, race, background, gender or sexuality should have the chance to realise their potential. By providing young people with disabilities or special needs additional instruction and support we are able to make sure that they are challenged in a supportive environment, with activities specifically adapted to suit their needs. This enables them to learn and build the resilience they need to meet life’s challenges.
We are delighted that UK Youth can offer bursaries to assist young people who wish to visit Avon Tyrrell.
