Avon Tyrrell

Home to UK Youth, Avon Tyrrell is our leading outdoor learning centre in the New Forest National Park.

Avon Tyrrell offers an extensive range of adventure, outdoor learning and tailored programmes for groups and individuals, helping young people develop core life skills.

Understanding the strengths and needs of young people means we empower them to build bright futures, dedicating our time to providing opportunities and unlocking potential through inclusive outdoor learning.

With over 40 different activities ranging from canoeing and kayaking to climbing, archery, mountain biking and raft building as well as on site accommodation in our Grade I listed house, self-catering lodges and camping there are opportunities for everyone from youth organisations, corporate companies and schools to families and friends.

Our experience and industry expertise means we recognise and reward achievements made outside of the classroom, and partnerships, support and funding from local councils and foundations provides us with the best opportunities to ensure everyone can 'Experience, Learn and Develop'.

AT Social Learning

Our extensive range of outdoor activities and development programmes at Avon Tyrrell provide an informal platform for learning. Teaching young people about communication, team work, self-awareness and resilience, encouraging them to work with and support others. These opportunities help teach young people crucial life skills and how they link to everyday challenges.

Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships

At Avon Tyrrell we not only provide development opportunities for the groups that visit but with 20% of our workforce undergoing an apprenticeship, we provide hands on learning and experiences for young people to help further develop their careers.

AT Social Action

Our EcoHealth project helps support young people with mental health stress getting them back into work. Following training, our apprentices go on to support more young people through different outdoor opportunities and volunteers help maintain and develop the centre so that we can continue to offer a high quality provision for young people in the future.

Feedback

"Our young people took part in activities that wouldn't normally be available to them such as kayaking and High Ropes, which enables them to see beyond their immediate environment and realise they are capable of achievement"
