UK Youth have made a conscious decision to make our Outdoor Centre, Avon Tyrrell, more accessible for disadvantaged and disabled young people and provide outdoor learning programmes that enhance their life skills.
General Bursary Fund
For any young person who would like to participate in an non-formal learning opportunity at Avon Tyrrell but cannot meet the fees is welcome to apply to our general bursary fund using the form at the bottom of the page. All applications are considered on a case by case basis.
Bursary Fund for Disabled Young People
The centre is a member of the Institute of Outdoor Learning’s special interest group for accessibility which ensures that all ages and abilities are catered for. The instructors are trained to use any additional equipment needed by disability groups so they can fully engage. They are also experienced in managing the varying needs of mixed ability groups ensuring disabled visitors can be included in group activities. The site itself has paths to all activity stations for wheelchairs, a hoist for the outdoor pool and lakes and fully accessible accommodation.
