Sometimes all it takes is a helping hand
What made you who you are today? If you were given a helping hand when you were young, then you’ll know how important that moment in a young person’s life can be. Being offered a safe place to go, encouragement, and the chance to acquire new skills can transform a young person’s life and their long term prospects.
As a Trustee of UK Youth you can make a difference
At UK Youth that is what we do. Our aim is for every young person we work with to be a positive force for change in their own life, and the lives of others. We recognise that to do this young people need inspiration, opportunities and encouragement to develop crucial life skills that are not always acquired at home or through formal education.
The impact of our work is profound:
- Over 700,000 young people supported through our network each year
- £3.3 million invested into local youth organisations in 2015
Join us and shape the future
We have an exciting opportunity for new Trustees to join the UK Youth Board responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Charity. We are looking for people from all walks of life who can demonstrate a genuine passion for empowering young people, coupled with high levels of integrity.
We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates who would like to act as young representatives (e.g. young people aged 16-25) OR who have experience in one of the following areas. You do not need experience in multiple areas, as we are planning to recruit a range of new Trustees with different skill sets.
- The ability to fundraise
- Youth policy
- Marketing and communications
In your role as Trustee you will act as an ambassador for UK Youth and be responsible for ensuring the charity delivers its stated aim of supporting young people aged 9-25 across the UK. You will be expected to attend five meetings of the Board each year, as well as additional events with staff and young people.
We welcome applications from a diverse range of people to reflect the diverse nature of our beneficiary group, which includes young people who are BME, LGBT, living with disability, or experiencing low levels of agency.
Trustee roles are unremunerated, however UK Youth will reimburse you for related expenses such as travel, accommodation and food. The term of the appointment is 3 years.
More information about these roles and how to apply is provided in the recruitment pack. http://www.ukyouth.org/uploaded/trustee_candidate_pack_Jul_16.pdf
